Arwen DPS, born in 1980, is a self-taught contemporary artist based in Auvergne, France. Her work explores the tension between intense realism and raw abstraction, within a deeply symbolic universe.
Her portraits—of people and animals—are strikingly precise, almost photographic, while the backgrounds, often painted on recycled OSB wood, deconstruct space through rough textures and chaotic fractures. This contrast creates a vibrant dialogue between the fragility of living beings and the brutality of constructed environments.
Arwen works with acrylic and charcoal on wood, canvas, or paper. She draws visceral strength from raw materials, in service of a committed art practice centered on biodiversity, animal welfare, and children in suffering.
In 2025, she received the Press First Prize at Galerie Thuillier in Paris, her portrait of Salvador Dalí was featured on the cover of Visual Art Journal, and she was selected to receive the Gold Medal from the Académie Arts-Sciences-Lettres (ceremony scheduled for October).
Each artwork is a soft yet necessary cry, an ode to the unspoken, a tribute to memory and the resilience of life. ✨🎨
